Business Travel Mini-Workshop Training (Part 1) Day 6

🙋Aloha Travel Practitioners.

Welcome to Day 6 of our Travel business mini-training/workshop.

📍For day 6;
We going a lil further to look up Travel as an Industry, and Tourism as an Industry

A DESCRIPTION OF THE TRAVEL INDUSTRY

The travel industry refers to the numerous aspects of the service industry which cater to the necessities, needs, desires, convenience, and comfort of travelers from one part of the world to another; making it possible for them to reach their destinations safely and also have pleasant experiences at their destinations.

The travel industry refers to the act of moving from one location to another.

This can refer to long-distance travel, short-distance travel, overseas travel, domestic travel, circle trips, round trips, round-the-world trips, and one-way journeys, covering a wide variety of different travel purposes and various other forms of travel.

A DESCRIPTION OF THE TOURISM INDUSTRY

The Tourism industry is centered on tourism.

The tourism industry refers to all aspects of the service industry that cater to tourists and is concerned primarily with catering to the necessities, needs, desires, convenience, and comfort of travelers (qualified as Tourists) carrying out the specific act of traveling to a different location (another environment), either for business or pleasure for at least 24 hours, but not longer than one year; making it possible for tourists to reach their destinations safely and have pleasant experiences at their destinations.

By its very nature, tourism involves a round trip (i.e tourists stay in their destinations for at least one night, and then return to their environment) rather than one done-direction way) travels only. A tourist is generally only classed as such if they stay in an arranged overnight accommodation situated in the location they travel to.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TRAVEL AND TOURISM INDUSTRY

While the travel industry and the tourism industry are interlinked, it is important to understand that there are some notable differences between the two industries.

Given the definitions above, it is understandable that many people struggle to see much of a distinction between the tourism industry and the travel industry moreso; both industries significantly overlap each other.

Also; many of the businesses and services catering to tourists also cater to travelers generally.

However, by contrast, the travel industry has a wider scope, covering more travel purposes and durations wholly related to a person’s travel (including planning) from one place to another, and the various services utilized in that process.

In some ways, this means that the travel industry is broader than the tourism industry because it covers a wider number of travel purposes and includes trips to non-tourist destinations.

END.
